The Roller family....Nancy, Mike and Courtney
Magick gathering sheep in the big field
Jeff got Buck in June 2005 (he is a rescue) and is 5 years old and came from a former dairy farm. Buck is Jeff's first dog and they are learning to work as a partner not only on stock but off stock.
Buck has come a long way from being too assertive on stock to rating his stock better and also working with Jeff. As they progress, you will be seeing them in an ASCA course in the future. Each week they work better together and Jeff is religious about doing his off stock work with Buck and it is starting to show.
Buck is a Border Collie/Aussie mix and works with a loose eye.
Courtney and "DeltaBlz Logan" haven't exactly started training yet, but we'll wait and see what they're going to turn out like. Logan is from Dolly and Chino, both cattle bred Border Collies. Dolly lives here and works cows and sheep and is very biddable and good natured. Logan was the calmest of the pups as opposed to Grub that Diane kept. Logan will be a good dog for Courtney to train and run on the USBCHA trial course. Both are keen, smart and not to mention CUTE!! Look for this awesome team in the near future.
Courtney and Shylow started herding in December of `06, after watching her mom's herding lessons for a few months. Shylow is a 5 year old Border Collie/Australian shepherd that they rescued about 4 years ago and has many issues. Shylow's showing more and more potential every week, as long as Courtney can figure out how to position herself correctly. Shylow also does agility.
Her dad, Mike, trained him until just recently when Courtney took him over his agility training and is doing really well.
Courtney's in 8th grade, in advanced classes and on honor roll. She's been around dogs and training since she was 7. She shows lots of potential and we'll see what she can do with it. We expect a lot from her and no doubt she can do it. She is very hard working and also does chores on the farm and is one polite youngster!!! We really enjoy her enthusiasm!!
Courtney is a sponge, learning at a fast rate and soaks up the knowledge. We have made her sort the lesson sheep with Tess to get her up to speed and so far, Tess has listened to her. We feel that Courtney will be a great upcoming handler and look forward to her success. (This means she is going to kick some serious butt!!)

Nancy Roller started with her purebred Border Collie, Blaze in August of `06 when she got tired of watching him herd dragonflies in the backyard. She decided to introduce Blaze to sheep and see what exactly he could do. Blaze is a very hard and enthusiastic dog. He's starting to realize that when we tell him to get out, he needs to get out. Blaze is improving a ton and will end up being a really good herding dog once he gets a few thousand more miles in.
We've worked with Nancy a lot on positioning and timing and respect. As a result, she has homework to do and it shows in her handling skills and she is handling Blaze very well now. Once they will hit the trial course, they will be unstoppable. Maybe in a year or so, we can introduce Blaze to cattle. He has the making of a great cattledog.
Blaze is very talented and has ton of drive. Diane enjoys working with Blaze as he is one dog that will not give up and has the talent to back it up!!

Mike started with his purebred Border Collie, Colin in December of `06 after watching his wife for a few months herding with Blaze. Colin started off shy but was not too interested in gripping, but more into grouping them up. After a few sessions, he is gathering the sheep and has lots more confidence. Colin's getting really good at kicking out more and more and not pushing the sheep over Mike. (Although we love seeing that...it was great entertainment!!) I think Mike got jealous that Nancy was having too much fun!! Both Mike and Colin have come a long way.
Really, their only downfall is that Mike always fails his flank test. Why he can't figure them out is beyond us, but we're whipping him into shape. We are considering TATTOOING the "Come-Bye" and "Away" on his hands. Maybe it's a guy thing, you know... directions and all....
Audrey and DeltaBluez Dan
Audrey has two Border Collies, "Jeff" aka the Senior Citizen who is one handsome guy and her young pistol...aka "DeltaBluez Dan" (Pleat x Tess). Dan is quite the handful and keeps us on our toes. He is a dead ringer for his mother and sometimes when we work Dan and Tess is the backup, we get confused on what dog is who!!! Dan is very, very keen and had great stock sense. Audrey is young and spry and will continue to be young and spry with Dan when training him. They are a great team and they are doing great. Even Tess is impressed.

Monique Feyrecilde began herding with her Aussie, Magick, under Diane's instruction in August, 2006. Magick comes from a strong background in obedience and agility, but frequently reminds Monique that nothing is set in stone once the woolies are afoot!
Monique practices as a Licensed Veterinary Technician as well as offering group classes in obedience, agility and Rally obedience. For dogs with bad habits or problem behaviors, Monique offers private, in-home consultations in behavior modification for dogs and their owners. With over 10 years of experience in both medicine and behavior, Monique is a valuable resource to dog owners in the South Puget Sound region.

Monique is also herding with DeltaBluezLucy. Lucy is a granddaughter of Tess. Diane is training Lucy and Monique is trialing her in ranch and hopes to move up to higher classes soon. Lucy can do an outrun of about 250 yds and drive about 125 yds and her training is going very well.
